CALVERT CITY — William Harvey Butler, 87, of Calvert City died Thursday at his home.

He was a retired Ironworker for the Local 782 in Paducah. He was also a member of the Calvert City Masonic Lodge 543 for 60 years. He served his country in the U.S. military for 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and spent his last five years serving in the Tennessee National Guard.

He is survived by a son, Donald Butler of Calvert City; a daughter, Dana Lynn Butler of Calvert City; a brother, Ward R. Butler of Grand Rivers; and a sister, Doris Ellington of Calvert City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Barrett Butler; one brother; and two sisters. His parents were William and Ivalena Butler.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Collier Funeral Chapel of Benton with the Rev. Charles Westfall officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Provine Cemetery in Benton.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
