BROOKPORT, Ill. — Virginia Louise Stoner, 79, of Brookport, passed away at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Virginia was born April 28, 1933, in Kankakee to Clinton and Lavada (Wiley) Reynolds. She was first married to Wallace “W.T.” Farris on September 11, 1948. He preceded her in death March 25, 1975. She was later married to James Ellis Stoner April 3, 1972. He preceded her in death October 13, 1994.
Virginia was retired, having worked for many years at the Button Factory and the Good Luck Glove Factory in Metropolis. She later was employed at Big Johns in Metropolis where she worked in the Deli Department.
Virginia attended Brookport Church of God. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed going on cruises.
She is survived by four children, Donna Junkeman and special friend, Glenn Watson of Villa Ridge, Ronald Farris of Brookport, Patricia Wiseman and husband Bill of Golconda, and Brenda Shelton of Hartsville, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Delaine Douglas of Brookport, Jason Junkerman of Villa Ridge, Deann Jackson of Brookport, David Farris of Paducah, James Wiseman and wife Jessica of Golconda, Jared Croach of Hartsville, S.C., Kristian Shae Johnson and husband Matt of Christopher; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Baird, Dalton Wright, Tori Farris, Tyler McDaniels, Tristen Wiseman; great-great-grandchild, Brayden Johnson; three sisters, Wilma Walls and husband Willard of Brookport, Ada Davis and husband Lavelle of Metropolis, Mildred Grigg and special friend, Art Trivette of Ecorse, Mich.; one brother, Melvin Reynolds and wife Cathy of Brookport; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wiley and Wesley Reynolds.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Brookport Church of God (Intersection of 4th and George Streets) in Brookport with the Rev. Charles Tate and the Rev. Willard Walls officiating. Interment will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brookport Church of God.
