Virgil Ray “Sonny” Osborne, 86, of Paducah died Sunday, February 24, 2013, at 8:25 p.m. at Lourdes hospital.
He was a 65-year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was retired from Martin Marietta, where he was a machinist. Sonny had a great love for gem stones, both precious and semi-precious where he custom manufactured them. He spent many hours polishing gem stones.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennye Miller of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one son, Virgil Ray Osborne Jr. of Paducah, Ky.; three grandchildren, Cory Osborne of Paducah, Ky., Lorri (Geoffrey) Bragg of Harrison, Tenn., and Angela (Tom) Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, Don Parkhill of Brooksville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Kali Johnson and Kaben Bragg; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his wife, Eva Frances Sloan Osborne; his parents, Cecil and Helen Farmer Osborne; and two sisters, Sue Parkhill and Mary Williams
Services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Revs. Sharon Murray and Dennis Lawrence officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
