Len and Brenda Valentine of Paducah announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Lynn Valentine, to Jayson Eli Hall, son of Tammy and Charlie Thompson of Holden, Mo., and Jay Hall of Warrensburg, Mo.

Miss Valentine is the granddaughter of the late Burel and Ruby Foreman, the late Lenis Valentine and the late Mabel Valentine Smith. She is a graduate of Heath High School and a 2002 graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a bachelor’s degree in English. She earned a master’s degree in education in Reading and Writing (P-12 Endorsement) in 2009 from Murray State University and is employed as an English teacher with the Mayfield Independent Schools.

Mr. Hall is the grandson of Ray and Nila Dechman of Oak Grove, Mo., Bill O’Brien of Holden, Mo., and Bill Milks of St. Petersburg, Fla. He is the great-grandson of Helen Kitchen of Oak Grove, Mo. He is a graduate of Holden High School and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the U.S. Army’s 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 429 in Nashville, Tenn., and is employed by L.E. Myers Co. as a lineman.

Wedding vows will be exchanged July 3 at Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet, Fla.

All friends and relatives are invited to a reception for the couple beginning at 7 p.m. July 23 at the Robert Cherry Civic Center in Paducah. Only out-of-town invitations are being sent.
