MSU gets six seed
Murray State University’s Racer Arena was brimming with excitement Sunday. Racer fans were enthused to find out what seed the team would get for the NCAA tournament.
The six-seeded Racers will play Colorado State, an 11-seed, Thursday in Louisville at the KFC Yum Center. The seeding is the best selection in program history, surpassing the No. 9 seed the team got in 1998, when it entered the tournament with a 29-3 record and ranked 25th in the Associated Press poll.
Wildcats back at top seed
University of Kentucky fans had something to lift their spirits after an SEC title loss. The Wildcats took the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament with a 32-2 record this season. It’s the 11th time in program history the Cats have taken the top seed in the region.
Syracuse, North Carolina and Michigan State round out the other three No. 1 seeds. The Wildcats suit up against the winner of the Western Kentucky-Mississippi Valley State game on Thursday in Louisville.
Stewart uses bold move
to triumph at Las Vegas
Tony Stewart used some smooth moves to best his competition in the Sprint Cup.
Stewart made a three-wide pass on a late restart and held off Jimmie Johnson at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, winning at a track that was the site of his biggest disappointment last season. He came back with a new crew chief and the hope of having a little better luck than he had a year ago, when a pit mishap spoiled a chance at victory with what he believed to be the best car in the field.
Stewart was 16th in the Daytona 500.
