BROOKPORT, Ill. — Ruby Evelyn Swope, 83, of Brookport died at 6:20 a.m. Monday at Western Baptist Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of North Crockett Street Church of Christ in Brookport, where she formerly served on the culinary staff.
She is survived by five sons, Kenneth Laverne George of Indianapolis, Ind., James William George, Charles E. George, John B. George, and Richard J. George, all of Brookport; two daughters, Pam D. Porter of Brookport and Rita Houston of Paducah; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Lovelace of Paducah, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Laverne George; her second husband, Ruben Swope; one son, Harold George, and one granddaughter. Her parents were William Morris and Mary Tanner Morris.
Services will be at noon Friday at North Crockett Street Church of Christ in Brookport with William D. Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
