BENTON — Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Powell of Benton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner cruise and Christmas show on the General Jackson Showboat in Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Powell and the former Sylvia Wilkins were married Dec. 21, 1962, by Dr. Billy Hurt in Benton. Their attendants were Larry and Sherry Wilkins.

Mrs. Powell is a retired teacher from the Marshall County School System. She is the daughter of the late Pat and Norma Wilkins.

Mr. Powell is a retired maintenance supervisor from Arkema Inc. in Calvert City. He is the son of Evelyn Powell Wilkins of Benton and the late Chester Ray Powell.

They have five children: Tony Powell of Murray, Tim Powell of Old Hickory, Tenn., John Powell of Portland, Ore., Teresa English and Josh Powell, both of Benton; and six grandchildren.
