METROPOLIS, Ill. — Rebecca Anne Douglas and Canaan Matthew Montgomery were united in marriage Aug. 6 at Zion United Church of Christ in Metropolis with Dr. James Nelson officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Deborah Gray of Grantsburg, organist.

The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Elizabeth Douglas of Metropolis.

The groom is the son of Richard and Tara Montgomery of West Paducah.

The bride chose Miss Kristin Girtman of Paducah as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Jaclyn Acree of Fulton, Ky., Miss Hanna Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Miss Emily Montgomery of Lexington, Ky., sister of the groom. Serving as flower girl was Miss Attie Jones, daughter of Kristopher and Caroline Jones of Metropolis.

The groom chose his brother, Will Montgomery of West Paducah, as his best man. Groomsmen were Jared Rowley of Paducah, Ben Akes of Memphis, Tenn., and Daniel Pugh of West Paducah. Matthew Douglas, brother of the bride, and Dylan Douglas served as ushers.

A reception followed at Renee’s in Paducah. Miss Jessie Douglas of Brookport, Miss Hannah Weber and Miss Ellie Weber of Metropolis attended the guest registry.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Massac County High School and a 2010 graduate of Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing/management. She is employed by Olive Branch Eye Care in Olive Branch, Miss.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of Heath High School in West Paducah and a 2010 graduate of Murray (Ky.) State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He is a second-year student at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.

They reside in Memphis.
