Phauneil D. Dunn, 88, of Paducah died Saturday, January 19, 2013, at her home.
Phauneil was a longtime member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. She had a passion for special needs children and did a lot of work in that area. During World War II, she worked as a nurse’s aid while her husband served in the military.
Phauneil was a volunteer at Western Baptist Hospital when they got their first Colbalt Machine. She was a member of Western Baptist Women’s Auxiliary and former member of Homemaker’s Club.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Albert B. Dunn; a daughter, Candace (Larry) Cardin of Lone Oak; a son, Albert Delmon (Jo) Dunn of Winterhaven, Fla.; one sister, Kathleen Canene of Tinley Park, Ill.; one granddaughter, Sarah (Nathan) Trussell; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Hannah, and Addison Trussell, all of Lone Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Munford Delmon Dorris and Ada Mabel Holmes Dorris; her twin sister, Lucille Handy of East Point, Fla.; and Artance Schweitzer of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services will held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Revs. Jeff Wallace and Mike Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
