METROPOLIS, Ill. — Paul Bernard Vogt, 81, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.

Paul was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Massac County to August and Matilda (Sielbeck) Vogt, who preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating, with burial at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites to follow.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of 60 years, one daughter, Sandra (Vogt) Lipari and husband David of Loveland, Ohio; one son, Stephen Vogt of Metropolis, Ill.; four grandchildren, David Gentry of Metropolis, Tiffany Lipari of Cincinnati, Ohio, Austin Lipari and wife Allison of Washington, D.C., and Samuel Lipari of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one great-grandson, Joseph Lipari of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Anna Nilsson and husband James and Verna Kruse and husband Fred; one brother, Leonard Vogt and wife Norma; one brother-in-law, Vernon Norwood; and several aunts; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was married on Sept. 7, 1952, in the original First United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and served two years in the Army during the Korean War, worked at Electric Energy, Inc. and retired after 39 years. He continued as a farmer and at his favorite pastime, which was woodworking. He served his church as a board member and with construction work on Parsonages for many years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church, 100 E. 5th Street in Metropolis, Ill., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon.
