PRINCETON — Mary Elois Ward, 88, of Princeton died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She was a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also owner and operator of Ward’s Grocery.
She is survived by four sons, Buddy Ward of Princeton, Roger Ward of Fredonia, Tom Ward of Caldwell County, and Hugh Ward of Caldwell County; two daughters, Mary Lee Burkhart of Princeton and Martha DeBoe of Caldwell County; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Eddie Thomas of High Rolls, N.M.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ward Sr.; her parents, Kirby Thomas Sr. and Elois Robertson Thomas; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with the Revs. James Nobel Mckinney and Gary Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Lance Nichols Cemetery in Caldwell County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the funeral home.
