Manuel Dias, 87, of Paducah, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Lourdes hospital.

Mr. Dias was a member of St. Matthew By The Lake Lutheran Church. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for GAF in Calvert City, Ky. and a Portuguese Navy Lieutenant and Engineer with the Portuguese Merchant Marines.

Mr. Dias is survived by three daughters, Christina Dias Ward and husband Tom of Nashville, Tenn., Toni Tillotson and husband Tim of Georgetown, Ky, Monica Dias and husband Dan Hassert of Covington, Ky; two stepdaughters, Michele Burnett and husband Bob of Tampa, Fla., Nita Pursley and husband Jerry of Calvert City, Ky; one son, Michael Dias and wife Laurie of Atlanta, Ga.; one stepson, Mitchell McCandless and wife Julaine of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Celeste Reis and husband Bibi of Lisbon, Portugal, Albertina Matos and husband Xico of Lisbon, Portugal; one brother, Joaquim Dias and wife Manuela of Lisbon, Portugal; five grandchildren, Jenny Ward and husband Wade Morris of Cincinnati, OH., Amanda Sheaffer and husband Steve of Nashville, Tenn, Josh Ward and wife Katie of Nashville, Tenn, Katie Tillotson of Columbus, OH., Amy Carroll and husband Tyson of Lexington, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Craig of Cincinnati, OH., Henry Sheaffer of Nashville, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen McCandless Dias; and one sister, Maria Rosa Garcia. His parents were Manuel Dias and Joaquina Nogueira Dias; and his stepmother, Luisa da Conceicao Dias.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Paul Meier officiating. Burial will follow in Pell Cemetery in Brookport, Ill.

The Dias family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until service time of 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah.

In lieu of flowers the Dias family requests expressions of sympathy be made to St. Matthew By the Lake Lutheran Church 3966 U.S. Hwy 641 North Benton, Ky 42025.
