MURRAY — Lester Byers, 89, of Murray, died Friday at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.

He was a retired cook and World War II Army veteran of 430th Anti-Aircraft. He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Whiteside of Roscommon, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Richard Whiteside, Teri Barnaby, and Dawn Whiteside.

He was preceded in death by one brother; his parents were Rochie and Effie McClure Byers.

Services will be 12 noon Friday in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Burial to follow in Murray City Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
