Lawrence (Larry) Gardner, 53, of Paducah passed away at 11:40 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Mr. Gardner was an Eagle Scout in his early years, ran scoreboard and kept stats at Paducah Tilghman Baseball from 2000-2012, and was a devoted and unshakable fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He attended Paducah Tilghman High School, Western Kentucky University, Paducah Community College, and was a member at Immanuel Baptist Church of Paducah.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Carson Gardner; two sons, Joseph Allen Gardner and Peter Carson Gardner, both of Paducah; four brothers, Ed (Sonny) D. Gardner III of Evansville, Ind., Theodore (Ted) C. Gardner of Pensacola, Fla., Timothy (Tim) L. Gardner of Lexington, and Michael Lynn Gardner of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed D. Gardner Jr. and Mary Lou (Kopp) Gardner; his daughter, Alicia Grace Gardner, and one sister, Susan Kaye (Gardner) Lepping. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013. A gathering will follow at the Gardner family residence at 6 p.m. at 1220 Allen Lane, Paducah, KY 42001.
