HICKORY — Kenneth Earl Murphy, 88, of Hickory, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Murphy was a draftsman for the Bendix (Honeywell) Corp., where he retired as a supervisor with 50-plus years of service.
He served as a deacon at Worldwide Church of God.
He is survived by his daughter, JoAnna Schroer of Hickory; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathe Yergert, and two brothers. His parents were George Franklin and Herma Esther Murphy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Beam officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Hickory.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
