GRAND RIVERS — Julian “Sam” Newman, 49, of Grand Rivers died Tuesday in Marshall County.

He was owner and operator of Ol’ Country Heating & Air Conditioning Service Repair. He had formerly been employed at Northstar Steel Plant in Calvert City. He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Lake City and a 20-year U.S. Army and National Guard veteran retiree.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Newman; one son, James Newman; one daughter, Samantha Newman; his father, Eddie Newman, all of Grand Rivers; two sisters, Linda Brand of Winston Salem, N.C., and Rachel Bray of Clinton, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Molly Ann Newman, and one brother.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. There will be no funeral service.
