MAYFIELD — Mr. John Steven Carter, 37, of Mayfield, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, at his home.

He was a self employed pet groomer. He was a volunteer, and former chief of the volunteer fire department of Folsomdale. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Carter is survived by his partner, Steven E. Whitman of Mayfield; mother, Joyce Grooms (David) Oakes of Paducah; father, Johnny Day Carter of Benton; grandmother, Treva Carter of Dallas; stepmother, Sally Huie Carter of Paducah; sister, Tracey D. McClain of Mayfield; and a brother, Robert Day Carter of Louisville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Annie Grooms; and his grandfather, Billy Dean Carter.
