BENTON — Mr. Jackie Lee Thompson, age 83, of Benton, Ky, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at his home in Benton. Born December 9, 1928, in Paducah,  he was a Chemical Operator and a Warehouse Manager for B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company in Calvert City, Ky  He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was also a lifetime member of Calvert City Country Club.

He was the son of the late Hugh Thompson and the late Eugena (Sutherland) Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Merry Sue (McCuistion) Thompson of Benton; one daughter, Catherine Lee Street and husband Randy Otto of Hardin, Ky.; two sons, Thomas Hugh Thompson and wife Cari Lynn of Benton,  and Timothy Dale Thompson and wife Joanne M. of Port Allen, La.; five grandchildren, Jason Hugh Thompson and wife Kim of Benton, Lindsey Catherine Egner and husband Donnie of Benton, Ryan Street and wife Rebekah of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Tanner S. Thompson of Benton, and Chelsea THompson of Benton; five great-grandchildren, Mary Grace Thompson, Jack Thompson, Hugh David Thompson, all of Benton, and Jack Henry Street and Jetson Otto Street of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and one sister, Barbara Nell Logeman of Greenville, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home.

Celebration of life services will be held at a date to be announced later.
