METROPOLIS, Ill. — Iva Tubbs, 82, of Metropolis, Ill., formerly of Joppa, Ill., passed away at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. The Rev. David Wright will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Iva was retired from Laidlaw and a member of Joppa Baptist Church.
Iva is survived by a son, Ricky Throgmorton and wife Phyllis of Metropolis, Ill.; a granddaughter, Angela Simmons and husband Herb of Barlow, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Ali Wright and Walker Simmons, both of Barlow, Ky.; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Josh and Shelby Simmons, both of Barlow, Ky.; a brother, George Lukens Jr. and wife Juanita of Metropolis, Ill.; two nieces and one nephew.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora (Norman) Lukens; her husband, Jimmie Tubbs; two sisters, Anna Lauderdale and Pauline Sutfin; a brother, Shelby Taylor; and two nieces.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Pallbearers will be Herb Simmons, Andy Herron, Mike Stepter, Jamie Morse, Darron Searles and Sonny Summers.
