Mr. and Mrs. Steve Downs of Paducah announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Laine Henderson, to Justin Eric Thomas, son of Tanya Thomas of Mayfield.

Miss Henderson is the granddaughter of Paul Henderson of Hickman and Nora Whitlock of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the late Edward and Evelyn Andrews. She is a 2005 graduate of South Fulton High School in South Fulton, Tenn., a 2009 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor of science degree and a 2012 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in Lexington with a doctor of pharmacy degree. She is employed by Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Mr. Thomas is the grandson of Daniele Speed of Mayfield, and the late Anthony and Onie Thomas. He is a 2005 graduate of Graves County High School and earned his master of science degree in physicians assistant studies from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where he is pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree from the UK College of Pharmacy. He is employed by Kmart Pharmacy in Versailles.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at The Lodge at Emerald Waters in Mayfield. All friends and relatives are invited.
