BENTON — Glen Allen King, 90, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.
Glen was born in Selmer, Tennessee, and moved to Benton to work at the B.F. Goodrich Corporation from where he eventually retired. He loved to fish, but his passion in life was the used car business. He rebuilt, sold, wholesaled used cars for over 50 years.
He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Spears and Tommie McWherter, both of Benton, Ky., and Glenda Ann Landis of Murray, Ky.; his son, Jimmy King and his wife Sandi of Benton, Ky.; his grandchildren, Scott Stone and his wife Leigh of Bartlett, Tenn., Ricky Henson and his wife Becca of Benton, Ky., Ellen Carver of Benton, Ky., Tim King and his wife Becky of Benton, Ky., Anthony King and his wife Angela of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kelsey Dowdy and her husband James of Murray, Ky., Kristen Moore of Murray, Ky., and Clint King and his wife Sarah of Benton, Ky.; his great-grandchildren, Ginny Stone, Adam Stone, Loryn Carver, Calli Carver, Abby King, Thatcher King, Vanderlei King, Michellie King and James Dowdy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virble Garner King; one son-in-law, Carroll Spears; and two brothers, Arnold Curtis King and Cecil Henry King. His parents were Walter Monroe King and Elizabeth Catherine Curtis King.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in the King Family Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Tom Haltom, Lynn Cope, Doug Dotson, Scott Clark, Freddie Poe, Clinton Henson, Charlie Baker and Don Kenady.
