BARLOW —  Gladys Jean Owen, 86, of Barlow, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, at LifeCare Center of La Center after an extended illness. She was born August 26, 1926, in Barlow to Earl and Lillian Moss Rollins. She was a member of Barlow Baptist Church.

Gladys taught school for 34 years at Barlow Elementary School where she touched the hearts and minds of many young students.

She is survived by one son, Cliff Owen and wife, Donna of Paducah; two grandchildren, Blake Owen of New York City and Jared Owen of Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Owen; her parents, Earl and Lilliam Rollins; four brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation for Gladys Jean Owen will be Sunday, January 20, 2013, beginning at 11 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel of La Center.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. after visitation with Dr. Ben Boone and Rev. Dewayne Chadwick officiating. Burial will follow at Barlow Cemetery in Barlow. Pallbearers are Randy Ryan, John Wright, George Hanrahan, Curtis Dennis, Rex Powell, and John Earl Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Oldham, Larry Joe Johnston, Joe Ben Piper, George Lane, and Freddie Tanner.
