Rev. Fred Eugene Richardson, 89, passed away at home Sunday, November 4, 2012. He was born in Dallas, Tx. and raised in Paducah. He was the son of the late Henry Richardson and Velma Ward Wynne.
A WWII veteran of the Navy, he served in the South Pacific where he surrendered to preach the gospel. He was a 1949 graduate of Georgetown College and a 1953 graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary.
As a Southern Baptist minister, he pastored 13 churches, Associate Pastor of two churches, interim pastor of two churches and minister of music at one church. When he retired pastoring churches, he and Juanita joined Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington, where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Juanita Sills Richardson; two daughters, Sharon Gilliland and her husband Ray of Benton and Lura Foster and her husband Terry of Versailles; ten grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Richardson; a daughter, Evelyn Alene; and his parents.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Milward-Southland in Lexington, Ky. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home. Ray Gilliland will officiate and burial with full military rites will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.
