‘The Adjustment Bureau’
Matt Damon has made very few mistakes in his acting career. "The Adjustment Bureau" is not one of those mistakes.
"The Adjustment Bureau" follows David Norris, played by Damon, a politician about to land a Senate seat. Norris falls in love with Elise Sellas, played by Emily Blunt, a ballet dancer. Norris learns he is being followed by members of the Adjustment Bureau, an organization that focuses on controlling fate itself. Norris must choose throughout the movie whether to follow his fate and assume his seat in history, or be with the woman he loves.
While Damon can't go wrong here, the biggest nod toward excellence comes with having George Nolfi as a director. Nolfi wrote the screenplay for intellectual action thrillers like "Oceans 12" and "The Sentinel," along with the wildly successful third-installment in the Bourne trilogy starring Damon, "The Bourne Ultimatum." This is his first movie as a director, and he has done a fantastic job with it.
Damon does an excellent job in films like this, but in reality, it is Blunt who steals the show. This is her first leading role, besides lending her voice to "Gnomeo and Juliet." Her stunning looks and her ability to keep up with Damon in the movie will lead to many more leading roles in big-time movies like this.
