HAVANA, Fla. — Dortha (Hale) Osterman, 85, of Havana, Fla., formerly of Almo, Ky., passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, in Tallahassee.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Trad York officiating. Burial will follow at the Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, Kentucky.

Born on April 12, 1927, in Almo, Kentucky, Dortha was the daughter of Joseph and Dona Hale. She was retired from Western Union where she worked as an administrative assistant for many years. She was a resident of Tallahassee for many years, later moving to the Havana Golf and Country Club.

Dortha is survived by her nephew, Steve Houston and wife Sune of Brookport, Ill.; one niece, Barbara Godsey of Madison Heights, Mich.; three great-nieces, Brenda Paye of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Donna Hughes of Franklin, Tenn., and Susan Harville of Brookport, Ill., one great-nephew, Timothy Houston of Franklin, Tenn.; three stepsons, James Osterman and wife Kathie and Alan Osterman and wife Margo, both of St. Clair Shores, and Mel Osterman and wife Lori of Brighton, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James Osterman; one son, Sherburne Thompson; and three sisters, Essie Graham, Frocye Hale, and Lala Houston.

Friends may call at the Brookport Funeral Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday November 14, 2012.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Brookport will be in charge of the arrangements.
