BENTON — Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smiddy of Benton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 23 with a family dinner.

Mr. Smiddy and the former Sue A. Jones were married Dec. 23, 1961, by the Rev. Elvis Smiddy at the old Altona Baptist Church in Calvert City. Their attendants were Jack Smiddy and Sylvia Hill.

Mrs. Smiddy is the daughter of Louise Jones of Calvert City and the late Wesley Jones. Mr. Smiddy is retired from MeadWestvaco. He is the son of the late Rev. Elvis and Myrtle Smiddy.

They are the parents of Mark Alan Smiddy of Benton, Terri Sue Hart of Nashville, Ill., and Shannon Smiddy of Benton. They have two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
