BENTON — Dennis Metts, 78, of Benton, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton. He retired from Bell South where he worked as a manager and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers.

Mr. Metts was a veteran of the US Army.

He was the son of the late Fred Simpson Metts and the late Onie B. (Hataway) Metts.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia “P.J.” Metts of Benton; two daughters, Lisa Balton and husband Robin of Memphis, Tenn., Laura Harris and husband Jeffrey of Kevil; two sons, Michael Metts and wife Cynthia of Vista, Calif. and Troy Metts and wife Brenda of Loganville, Ga.; sisters, Fredda Hobgood of Vicksburg, Miss., Veta King of Memphis, Tenn., and Anita Pennington of Memphis, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, and John Balton of Memphis, Tenn., Courtney and Zachary Metts of Loganville, Ga., Katherine, Matilyn, and Hadley Harris of Kevil.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY.

Funeral services will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at Noon, Saturday, October 20, 2012 with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow in Moreland Cemetery in Gilbertsville.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home Friday October 19, 2012.
