METROPOLIS, Ill. — David Brian Chapman, 41, of Metropolis, went home to be with the Lord at 8:41 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Brian was born January 28, 1971, in Paducah to James David and Paula D. (Qualls) Chapman.

He was a member of the Brookport Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was employed by Three Rivers Machine in Ledbetter for several years.

Brian is survived by his daughter, Candace Grant of Metropolis; parents, James and Paula Chapman of Metropolis; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Mike Bruce of Metropolis; niece and nephew, Kirsten and Keegan Bruce of Metropolis; maternal grandmother, Joyce Howell of Metropolis; maternal grandfather, Bobby Qualls and wife Laura of McClure, Ill. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his faithful companion “Tucker.”

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Herschel “Blackie” and Eva Lee Chapman.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Brookport Church of God located at the intersection of (4th and George Streets) in Brookport with the Rev. Charles Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Otterbien Cemetery in Pope County. Pallbearers will be Justin Cameron, David Wright, Jamie Wright, Bobby Morehead, Chris Johnston, Eddie Baird, Tim Odle and Richie Austin.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 5 to 6 p.m. for family and 6 to 8 p.m. for others.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookport Church of God. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church.
