METROPOLIS, Ill. — Danny R. Douglas, 66, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Metropolis, Ill., passed away October 31, 2012, at Presence Mercy Center surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Danny was survived by his loving wife, Lillian (nee Hamby); daughter, Deana (Bill) Miller; and son, Jeff (Dorene) Douglas; two sisters, Donna (Paul) Meinders and Vicki (Lewis) Blaylock; six grandchildren, Carey, Steven, Garrett, Haley, Megan, and Alexis; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Danny was a proud veteran of the U.S Army who served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Fermi Lab after 40 years and was an avid Chicago Bears and NASCAR racing fan. Danny loved fishing, hunting, drag racing, and spending time with his loving family.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home on Monday.
