BENTON — Charles Edward Travis, 85, of Benton, Ky., passed away at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at his home.

Charles was a charter member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed dancing. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by one son, Gary Travis of Benton, Ky.; one daughter, Charletta Travis of Benton, Ky.; one brother, Donald Travis of Benton, Ky.; two sisters, Anna Lou Collins of Benton, Ky., and Mavis Duncan of Almo, Ky.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Wayne Travis, and one sister, Mildred Proctor. His parents were Lowell Prentise Travis and Ola Alice Ross Travis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory. Bro. Mark Thweatt and Bro. Joel Frizzell will officiate, and burial with military rites will follow in the Benton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Travis, Nathan Travis, Clint Smith, Travis Peck and Johnny Collins. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory.
