BURNA — Carl Edward Sunderland, 85, of Burna died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Grand Rivers.
He retired from Modine Manufacturing Company and was also a farmer. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Groves Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Vickie Sandala of Augusta, Ga., Karen Baird of Grand Rivers, and Dana Sunderland of Smithland; two sisters, Jean Guess of Smithland and Ann Trail, both of Michigan; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Crouch Sunderland; one brother; and two sisters. His parents were Vernon and Mary Sunderland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland with Harold Rittenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Groves Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday, January 4th, 2013, at the funeral home.
