Don Brent Young, age 56, passed away from heart failure at his home Friday morning, January 11, 2013, at 1 a.m. Brent went home to be with his Lord and Savior as he slept peacefully. He was born June 24, 1956, in Childress, Texas. He traveled and lived in many different locations throughout his life but always thought of Paducah as home.
Brent was a computer sciences independent contractor who specialized in project management with many companies throughout the United States. A 1974 graduate of Lone Oak High School, he served as Senior Class and Beta Club President. He was voted “most likely to succeed” by his graduating class. A gifted vocalist, he made it all the way to the National All State Vocal Championship. At age 18 he toured with the contemporary Christian singing group “Truth” as their baritone, then attended Oral Roberts University where he studied political science and music. While attending Oral Roberts University he sang with the World Action Singers and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
He is survived by his sons, Alexander Christian Young of Murray and Clayton Powers Young of Nashville, Tenn.; his brother, Scott Burton Young and wife Zina; his niece, Amanda Leigh Young; his nephew, Jacob Scott Young; and his parents, Don and Edie Young, all of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Young.
Funeral services and burial for Mr. Young will be private. All arrangements are with Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
