Bill Farr, 85, of Paducah died Wednesday at his home.

He was a native of Paducah. Mr. Farr was a self-employed businessman, owning Indiana School Pictures in Indianapolis, Ind. He relocated to Paducah in 1966 and owned and operated Balfour and Taylor Publishing Company. In 1999, he became the owner of Farr Better Supply Company until his retirement in 2003. Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School, Bowling Green Business College and Presbyterian Seminary of Louisville in pastoral studies.

Bill was proud of Paducah and was involved in many organizations and ministries. He became a lay pastor in 1984 with Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and commissioned lay pastor of the United Presbyterian Church and Trenton Presbyterian Church. He was an elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paducah and performed missionary work in Haiti. Bill’s favorite activity and enjoyment was serving as lay pastor for the church he worked for. He was a dedicated and faithful pulpit minister for over 20 years.

He was a founding board member of Paducah Cooperative Ministry, a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Plain City Lodge No. 449 for 60 years, a member of Shriner’s Rizpah, past president of the Paducah Night Lions Club and the Paducah Kidney Foundation. He was also a member of Paducah Ambassadors and an usher at the Carson Center.

Mr. Farr is survived by two daughters, Linda Thompson and husband Jerry of Smithland, Lori Riley and husband Tom of Paducah; three sons, John Farr and wife Dr. Carla Farr, Bob Farr and wife Becky, and Warren Farr, all of Paducah; two stepsons, Charles and Chris Carnes; one stepdaughter, Sari Carnes; eight grandchildren, Kyle Lake, Leeanne Frizzell and husband Bobby, Ansley Lake, Leslie Farr, McLane Farr, Madison Farr, Tami Stivers and Nikki Stivers; and three great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Hunter and Henley Frizzell.

Bill was preceded in death by his wives, JoAnn Carnes Farr, Harriette Farr and Carolyn Guthrie Farr; two brothers, John and George Farr; and a sister, Jane Farr McElya. His parents were John and Bonner Farr of Paducah.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Paducah with the Rev. Lynn Shurley officiating. Burial at Mt. Kenton Cemetery will precede the service.

Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
