VIENNA, Ill. — Betsy A. Wright, 76, of Vienna passed away Wednesday morning, July 11, 2012, at 6:10 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Betsy was born August 26, 1935, in Olney, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lewis and Glenna (Baird) Clark.
Betsy was united in marriage to Rex L. Wright on April 1, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Martinsville, Ill. Rex also passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from injuries he sustained in the motor vehicle accident.
Survivors include a son, Scott Wright and his wife, Melanie of Vienna; a daughter, Tracy Dalton and her husband, Mike of Vienna; three grandchildren, Hilary Wright, Lucas Wright and Michael Dalton, and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by a brother, David Clark.
Betsy was a graduate of Martinsville High School. She also attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Betsy formerly owned and operated Rainbow Ceramics in Vienna. She also worked in the fabric shop in Vienna and co-owned a shoe store in Vienna for a number of years
Betsy was actively involved in a number of community organizations, including being a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, the Daniel Chapman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, was Queen Mother of the Vienna Vivacious Red Hat Society, chairman of the Vienna Zoning Board and had formerly served as the assistant Vienna city clerk.
Betsy was a faithful and devoted member of Vienna First United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed working in the Vacation Bible Schools.
Betsy enjoyed sewing, embroidery and was the “head cookie maker” for her grandchildren as well as many other people and for the local blood drives. Betsy loved children and enjoyed working in the Vienna Grade School book fairs.
Together, Rex and Betsy enjoyed ballroom dancing, were avid golfers, and were devoted to their family and especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and attending their athletic and school activities.
Funeral services for Rex and Betsy Wright will be held Monday morning, July 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Vienna First United Methodist Church. Pastor Don Meeks will officiate.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 4-9 p.m. in the commons room of Vienna High School (those attending are asked to enter through the New Gym Lobby) and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Interment will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
