Duane and Dacia Beard of Hickory announce the engagement of their daughter, DeLara Dacia Beard, to Thomas Wayne Cherry, son of Jennifer and John Woods of Danville, and Thomas Wayne Cherry Sr. of Bowling Green.

Miss Beard is the granddaughter of Bobby E. and Robbie Garnett of Boaz, and Jerry and Judy Beard of Hickory. She is a 2010 graduate of Graves County High School in Mayfield.

Mr. Cherry is the grandson of Brenda and Bobby Deweese of Morgantown, and the late Phyllis Griffin. He is a 2009 graduate of Boyle County High School and is employed at American Greetings Corp. of Danville.

The wedding will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 18 at Liberty Baptist Church in Hickory. All friends and relatives are invited.
