MARION — Barbara Gene Mayes, 71, of Marion died Tuesday at Crittenden Health Systems in Marion.

She was a member of New Hope Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Paula G. Phelps of Salem; two sons, Paul E. Mayes of Cullman, Ala., and James R. Mayes of Marion; her mother, Imagene Brantley of Marion; two brothers, James Henry Brantley and William Clayton Brantley, both of Sturgis; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mayes; her father, James Clayton Brantley; one son, Roger Glen Mayes; one daughter, Christine Mayes Alvey; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion with interment in Rosebud Cemetery.
