BENTON — Anna Sue (Lawrence) Owens, 83, of Benton, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at 2:05 p.m. at Superior Care Home in Paducah.

Mrs. Owens, the daughter of Novice D. and Blanche (Cole) Lawrence, was a native of Marshall County and a graduate of Brewers High School, where she was a cheerleader. She also attended Murray State University.

She was a life-long member of New Bethel Baptist Church and taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for a number of years. She was a former employee of the Bank of Marshall County and the Kentucky Department of Social Services. Mrs. Owens was also a member of the Marshall County Hospital Auxiliary.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Dennis Owens and wife Carolyn of Paducah and Dwayne Owens and wife Sami of Benton; and granddaughters, Ashley Cole Owens of Columbus, Ohio., Jessica Ann Owens of Murray, Paige Chandler Owens of Athens, Ga., Erin Freeman of Paducah; and a grandson, Cody Freeman of Paducah.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest son, David “Red” Owens; and her husband of 54 years, Jim Owens.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Mark Mohler officiating. Burial is to follow at Brewers Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
