Once again, Paducah Symphony Orchestra has taken the reins when it comes to music planning. The result is a 46-band schedule that fans out over three separate stages. Organizer Leigh Ann Renfro said a committee received more than 200 applicants this year, and the schedule reflects an eclectic music taste.
“We listened to every one of the tapes that came in,” Renfro said. “We tried to get a wide variety of talent so everyone can have something they like.”
All of the bands on stage in 2012 come from within a 350-mile radius. Only 10 bands are performing who hit the stage in 2011, allowing for new sounds to drift into Lower Town.
