Conservatives have prevailed, now comes war for the truth

By AUBERT ROSE Benton

EDITOR:

The late Southern Baptist preacher/pastor Dr. Adrian Rogers, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, and Southern Baptist Conference president three times said, "There is nothing as mean as a liberal when backed into a corner." This was in the 1970s when conservative Southern Baptists took back the SBC from liberals (who called themselves moderates) and had slowly and subtly taken over much of the convention, schools, boards, etc.

The battle was over the Bible, which the liberals said contained truth but was not all truth and the conservatives said was inerrant truth.

The battle was won over a 10-year period, led by great leaders like Dr. Rogers, Dr. Criswell, Dr. Stanley (I was his associate during this time), Dr. Falwell, Dr. Draper, Dr. Eliff, plus many others.

Every president since that time is conservative and all schools and boards have been reclaimed and remain conservative, believing the Bible is the Word of God.

You may be asking, what does that have to do with anything today? Good question.

I see it because I was involved in it on the conservative side, as a microcosm of our beloved America today. The progressive/liberals slowly and subtly took over the leadership of our country with the last eight years most liberal of all. Finally last November enough people woke up and said, "No more, we're taking it back!" and they did. But oh what a battle now going on to continue it.

Nine of the president's Cabinet nominees are Bible-believing Christians -- wow.And guess who hates that?

You see we are at war. The progressive/liberals have been exposed and conservatives have been voted into power and are at war for truth.

Our elected conservative leaders need our prayers and support more than ever in the history of our beloved country and we'll continue to win the war.
