Mayor's answer to question on firefighter issue offensive

By DWIGHT SMITH Paducah

EDITOR:

I was appalled at the response our illustrious mayor gave Jason Hibbs to a question he asked concerning the fiasco with a few of the personnel in the fire department. Really! The head of city government answers a legitimate question with, "Is this the kind of interview you want? And they're men aren't they?"

A friend of mine suggested a better answer for a public official would have been, "This type of behavior will not be tolerated by men or women in any city department and as mayor I am taking steps to ensure that this doesn't happen again."

Wise up, mayor and remember how you came to be in office. You can be removed as easily as you got in.
