FANCY FARM -- Mr. Joseph Douglas Thomas, age 84, of Fancy Farm, Kentucky, died at 9 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at his residence.

Douglas was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm and was a retired salesman from Sears & Roebuck Company after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Bodkin Thomas of Fancy Farm; son, Richard (Kimberly) Thomas of Fancy Farm; 10 daughters, Janice (Bob) Boyd of St. Louis, Missouri, Kay Waid of Fancy Farm, Gail Thomas of Fancy Farm, Jeanie (Ralph) Stamper of Fancy Farm, Debbie (Roger) Underwood of Hodgenville, Kentucky, Cindy (Rodney) Redden of Fancy Farm, Sandy (Mark) Goatley of Lowes, Kentucky, Lori (Mark) Wilson of Fancy Farm, Leah (Rodney) Hayden of Fancy Farm, and Deah (Mark) Hayden of Brentwood, Tennessee; two stepsons, Daniel Bodkin of Fancy Farm and Andy Bodkin of Arlington, Kentucky; brother, Dan (Jane) Thomas of Kirbyton, Kentucky; sister, Janet (Max) Midyett of Mayfield; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Douglas was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Hayden Thomas; parents, Robert Leon and Frances Hite Thomas; two brothers, Emanuel Thomas and Jimmy Thomas; sister, Joanne Turner; and great-grandson, Anthony Blake Turner.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm with Father Darrell Venters officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Jerome Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the St. Jerome Catholic Church after 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Boyd, Bryan Wilson, Jackie Wayne Jerome, Derek Stamper, Jacob Thomas, Matt Wilson, Adam Hayden and Abram Hayden. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Wilson, Chris Boyd, Dylan Stamper, Nathan Jerome, and Josh Jerome.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: Christopher House, 10039 St. Rt. 80 W, Fancy Farm, KY 42039.

The Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield is in charge of the arrangements.
