Wayne Douglas Sego

BENTON -- Wayne Douglas Sego, 75, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, at Diversicare of Fulton Rehabilitation Center.

Wayne was born on July 7, 1941, in Hart County, Kentucky. He graduated from Munfordville High School and went on to graduate from Louisville School of Mortuary Science. He worked at Collier Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director/embalmer during the 1960s and 1970s.

He married Hannah Sutherland on August 5, 1967. Wayne later went to work at Commonwealth Life Insurance Company until his retirement in 2004. Wayne was an avid hunter and a licensed taxidermist for many years. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Hannah (Sutherland) Sego; one daughter, Mary Morgan and husband Brandon of Benton; one son, Jarrod Sego of Benton; two sisters, Amy (Sego) Wilson and Joyce Ann King, both of Munfordville; one step-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gaines (Seymour) Sego; his father, Clifford Sego and his loving stepmother Helen Sego; one brother, George Clifford "Buddy" Sego; one sister, Sue Nunn; one nephew, John Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, Donnie Sutherland and Kendall King.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 W. Fifth St.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Daryl Thorn and Jim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 16 Wadesboro Road, South Benton, Kentucky.
