David L. Watwood

Staff report

HICKORY -- David L. Watwood, 66, of Hickory died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at his home.

He was a member of House of Prayer Church. He had worked as a security guard, and also had worked for Peck's Wholesale. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam, serving on the USS Tilawah.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Earl Monical of Paducah and Amanda Kay Christopher of Mayfield; two sisters, Debra Robinson of Irvine and Mary Ruth Raper of Hickory; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister. His parents were John Elliott Watwood and Mary Etta Watwood Vaughn.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Wickliffe Cemetery with the Rev. Verlin Clark officiating.

Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the service time.

Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield is in charge of arrangements.
