Dr. Burton Newman Stodghill

Dr. Burton Newman Stodghill, 47, of Paducah, Kentucky, died March 2, 2017, during a scuba diving accident.

Dr. Stodghill was born in Madisonville, Kentucky, on February 5, 1970, to Dr. William Jerry Stodghill and June Wells Stodghill. He graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1988 then went on to attend and graduate from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1992. From there, he earned his MD degree at the University of Louisville in 1996. Dr. Stodghill completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Louisville in 2001 and came home to practice in Paducah and became a founding Partner of the Orthopaedic Institute of Western Kentucky. He was board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Stodghill is survived by his wife, Catherine Brown Stodghill; his parents, Dr. Jerry and June Stodghill; and three stepdaughters, Mary Lyman Rivers, Grace Catherine Rivers and Amelia Brown Rivers.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with Dr. Clint Hill and Pastor Paul Donner officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 until the 7 p.m. service time at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCracken County Humane Society Memorial Gardens, 400 Coleman Road, Paducah, KY 42001.

The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of prayers, support and love extended to Dr. Stodghill and his family.
