BENTON -- Robert Stanton "Bob" Poague, 92, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Born Friday, February 13, 1925, in Florence, Alabama, he was the son of the late Eugene Poague and the late Maggie (Waldrop) Poague. He retired after 32 years of service as a chemical operator for Pennwalt Chemical Corporation, Calvert City, KY. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Benton Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Virginia "Jenna" (Holley) Poague of Benton, Kentucky; son, Gerry Stanton Poague, wife Kathy of Calvert City, Kentucky; and daughter, Sherry (Poague) Woodruff amd husband Lonnie of Benton, Kentucky. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Holley Webb and husband Jamie of Jackson, Tennessee, Haley Chambers and husband Scott of Benton, Kentucky, Clint Poague and wife Kristen of Calvert City, Kentucky, and Blaire Adams and husband Josh of Louisville, Kentucky; seven great-grandchildren, Jenna Brooke Webb, Brady Lee Webb, Logan Scott Chambers, Lucas Stanton Poague, Olivia Sarah Poague, Kathryn Loraine Adams and Evan Parker Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hubert Christian Poague, Eugene Shannon Poague and his twin brother, William Stansell Poague; and two sisters, Elizabeth Faye Hunt and Martha Jane Davis.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home, Benton, Kentucky. Mark Ray and Brent Lents will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Fairdealing Church of Christ Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West Fifth, Benton, KY.
