METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Helen Perry, 93, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with the Rev. Jon Cockrel and Pastor John Aitken officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Perry was a member of the Joppa Methodist Church and a devoted mother and homemaker.

Helen is survived by her children, Rosa Lee Fick of Grand Chain, Illinois, Judy Story of Paducah, Kentucky and Peggy Fitzpatrick and husband Carey of Olive Branch, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Rachel (Andy) Rhoades of Grand Chain, Illinois, Stephen (Lisa) Fick of Herrin, Illinois, Keith (Lisa) Story of Southaven, Mississippi, Kenny Story of Joppa, Illinois, Melissa Harris of Joppa, Illinois, Lance McLaughlin of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Sarah (Travis) Harper of Grenada, Mississippi, Rachel Pitts of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Rebecca Snyder of Little Rock, Arkansas; 15 great-grandchildren, Laura (Raymond) Vaughn of Paducah, Kentucky, Emily English of Grand Chain, Illinois, Tyler Fick of Herrin, Illinois, Nikki Story of Southaven, Mississippi, Taylor Story of Southaven, Mississippi, Jacob Harris of Paducah, Kentucky, Tucker Harris of Metropolis, Illinois, Hannah Harris of Joppa, Illinois, Elizabeth (David) Witt of Little Rock, Arkansas, Corey Smith of Collierville, Tennessee, Asher Koenigseder of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jhnous Long of Jackson, Tennessee, Kaleb Long of Jackson, Tennessee, Gabriel McLaughlin of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Sarah Snyder of Little Rock, Arkansas; five great-great-grandchildren, Abel Harris of Paducah, Kentucky, Kenley and Carlene Harris of Metropolis, Illinois, Kolbie Harris of Paducah, Kentucky, and Grayson Harris of Marion, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Nell Smith Holmes; husband, George Perry; two brothers, Kenneth and Frank Holmes; and three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Wilma Watkins and Betty Sinks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 4503 W. DeYoung Street, Suite 200 C, Marion, IL 62959.
