Harold Eugene Britt

LA CENTER -- Harold Eugene Britt, 84, of La Center, Kentucky, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, went to be with his loving Lord and Savior on February 15th, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was of the Seven Day Adventist faith.

He joined the Marines in the 1950s. He was in the Marines for 8à ½ years and served during the Korean War conflict. Harold was a truck driver for many years before retiring from the Sikeston Public School System. On February 7th, 1977, he married Darlene Sisk Britt in Sikeston, Missouri, and was married for 40 years. He was a fun-loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and enjoying every moment of his life. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

He is survived by wife of 40 years, Darlene; five children, Harold L. (Barbara) Britt of Sikeston, Missouri, Sissy (Donnie) Odell of Sikeston, Missouri, Kay Layton of La Center, Kentucky, Lisa (Terry) Lofton of East Prairie, Missouri, and Karen (Rodney) Seaton of La Center, Kentucky; one sister, Janetta Dowdy of Sikeston, Missouri.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Davis Britt; three chidren, Terry Britt, Connie McKnight and Daniel Britt; five sisters, Sarah Chesmore, Margie Davis, Joann Summers, Ocie Britt and Ethel Britt; and four brothers, Vernon Britt, David Britt, Jackie Britt and Johnny Britt.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, February 20th, 2017, at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Missouri, starting at 10 a.m.

Graveside services will follow at Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie, Missouri. Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah, Kentucky, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.lindseyfuneral.com.
