Mediza Landers

Staff report

MELBER -- Mediza Landers, 52, of Melber, Kentucky, passed away at 5:57 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.

Mediza was a member of New Concord Baptist Church. Mediza was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. She enjoyed watching basketball and crocheting. Mediza enjoyed family visiting and talking to them on the telephone.

Surviving family members include her mother and stepfather, Monzell Chambers Thurston and Terry Thurston of Melber, Kentucky; Tracy English and husband Tim of Melber, Kentucky; Bobby Stokes of New Mexico; Michael Thurston of California; Brent Thurston of Symsonia, Kentucky; and Justin Landers of Melber, Kentucky; one niece, Sierra English; and two nephews, Seth English and Evan Stokes.

Preceding in death was her father, Robert Lee Franklin Stokes.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Rollins officiating. Burial will follow at New Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Melber, Kentucky.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to service time of 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family has requested that you wear Kentucky blue and white to the visitation and funeral because of Mediza's love for the Wildcats.
