CAIRO, Ill. -- Lillie Mae Fleming, a longtime resident of Cairo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Life Care Nursing Home in La Center, Kentucky, at the age of 99.
She was born on August 11, 1917, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late Lillie Gertrude "Edwards" Bagby and to the late Noonan Bagby. She married Willis W. Fleming Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Lillie Mae worked at Saint Mary's Hospital until retirement. Lillie Mae loved spending time with her family and playing card games with her sisters until their passing. She continued to share her love of games with her nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her nursing home family. Lillie was also a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her four children, Willis W. Fleming Jr. and wife Nancy of Carterville, Illinois, Vicki Jo Cochran and husband Mike of Wickliffe, Kentucky, Johnny Michael Fleming and wife Julie of Barlow, Kentucky, and Lawrence Edward Fleming of Jackson, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Steve Cochran, Debbie Powell, Jason Cochran, Jenny Burke, Kelli Morgan, Jeanette Kimbro, Lance Fleming, John Eric Fleming, Ross Fleming, Logan Fleming, Lawson Fleming and Landyn Fleming; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and three more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis W. Fleming Sr.; a grandson, Michael A. Cochran; a great-granddaughter, Bethani Linn Morgan; four sisters; six brothers; and her parents.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Daystar Nursing Home in Cairo, Life Care Center in La Center, Kentucky, and Lourdes Hospice in Paducah, Kentucky.
Services for Lillie Mae Fleming will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo with Brother Butch Latta officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home.
