Fire destroys Mayfield church

BY TOM BERRYThe Mayfield Messenger

Power lines brought down by a fallen tree during a Saturday night storm are the suspected cause of a fire that destroyed The Church at Mayfield on Housman Street. Mayfield Fire Chief Jeremy Creason said firefighters rescued one man from the second floor of the church. His injuries were unknown. More than a dozen firefighters, as well as Mayfield Fire EMS, responded. Mayfield Electric and Water personnel repaired the electrical system that services the area. Creason was unavailable to provide additional information Sunday.
